Weekly Blend: December 23, 2016

The Weekly Blend is your “weekly” source covering real estate news that you just may have missed. Our hard-at-work Weekly Blend crew scours the web looking for obscure, bizarre, interesting and informative real estate (or real estate related) stories. If you have one you’d like to share please feel free to share it in our comments section or tweet about it using the hashtag #WeeklyBlend. So brew yourself a fresh cup of coffee and enjoy these stories. Maybe even share them with friends or colleagues. Happy reading!

Here are my weekly picks:

I challenge you to find me a more Christmassy pub. The Churchill Arms in London, England is decorated with 21,000 lights and covered in 90 Christmas trees. It’s the perfect place for Santa to après-sleigh.

Castles, forts, haunted houses and windmills make up this list of the top 10 most unusual homes for sale  in the United Kingdom over the past year.

An Alberta man took his recently-purchased Zamboni to a Tim Hortons drive-thru in what is one of the most Canadian stories ever. All that’s missing is a moose, a Molson and maple syrup.

A house was sold for more than $400,000 over its $699,900 asking price in Toronto. “It was like a rock concert on the street,” said Steven Atsaves, a salesperson with Royal LePage Grange Hall Realty.

The “desert escape” of Zsa Zsa Gabor, the famous Hollywood star who recently died at the age of 99, is on the market for a cool $969,000.

These churches, mosques and temples from around the world are extraordinary. I would have included the Notre- Dame Basilica of Montreal in the list, but who am I to judge?

If you could have one person’s voice to narrate your life, would it be Morgan Freeman’s? Of course it would be. Facebook’s new home assistant could reportedly feature the actor’s famous voice.

Have a friend whose cat won’t stop meowing? Get it a cat muzzle! Have an uncle who’s convinced aliens can read his thoughts? Protect his brain by purchasing a tin foil hat! Here’s a list of the worst holiday gag gifts available on Amazon.
