Real Estate Games: If REALTORS® Competed at the Olympics

The 2020 Summer Olympic Games were postponed last year due the COVID-19 pandemic, but now all eyes are on the international sporting spectacle.

With the Tokyo Games in full swing, we thought it would be fun to explore what kind of competitions REALTORS® would participate in if real estate had its own international event. Here are four (fake) contests you might see at the Real Estate Games, if they were real:

Real estate professionals competing

Billboarding

When it comes to real estate, your face is often your brand. In this fast-paced event, we see how fast REALTORS® can cover an area with billboards and lawn signs. The person with the most billboards in the area they serve wins!

Research has shown people are able to recognize a person’s face even if they forget other key details. Use a photo of yourself whenever possible in your advertising materials. Headshots should be professional and up to date; you want to make a good first impression with potential clients.

Staging a room

Staging floor exercise

In this event you have 30 minutes to stage a property before a showing. Ready, set, GO! Cartwheel across the carpet, backflip over the footrest and rearrange the furniture as fast as you can.

Tip: Staging a property can help woo potential buyers, so be sure to declutter, remove personal items and extra furniture, and stick to a neutral palette as much as possible. Some clients may prefer REALTORS® use online staging consultations or virtual staging as we continue to adapt to the new normal.

Offer table tennis

This is where your negotiation skills come to shine. Get ready for an intense back and forth as you fight for the best deal possible for your client.

Tip: They say knowledge is power. Use the MLS® Home Price Index (HPI) is price your client’s home with confidence. The MLS® HPI is the most advanced and accurate tool to gauge a neighbourhood’s home price levels and trends. Talk to your local board about accessing the MLS® HPI.

Transaction triathlon

Get ready to put your endurance to the test in this three-part competition. You’ll start by unlocking a series of lockboxes as fast as you can, then you’ll perform a relay as you head to open houses across town, finishing with the CREA WEBForms® dash as you race to fill out all the necessary paperwork to complete your transaction.

CREA WEBForms® provides users with the most up-to-date forms from your board or association, including commercial, FINTRAC and international referral forms. CREA WEBForms® is your complete end-to-end transaction management system. We’ve answered your FAQs to ensure you can make the most of this platform.
