For the past year, the Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA) has been engaging the REALTOR® association community in discussions on the future of REALTOR.ca and the potential to turn it into a separate, taxable, wholly owned subsidiary of CREA.
REALTOR.ca is instrumental to the success and reputation of REALTORS® in Canada. It delivers millions of leads to REALTORS® and uniquely positions you at the heart of consumer real estate journeys.
CREA is committed to ensuring the long-term sustainability of this extremely important member-owned asset.
The culmination of that work by the REALTOR.ca Task Force, CREA’s Board of Directors, and a team of outside experts, has been the development of a draft business case that outlines two scenarios:
- We maintain the status quo.
- We turn REALTOR.ca into a taxable entity.
The draft business case highlights how a transition to a taxable entity would enable REALTOR.ca to explore new sources of revenue and reinvest any net income back into the platform, helping it innovate and compete in an increasingly competitive prop-tech space.
To go through the draft business case together and hear your feedback, we’ll be hosting a series of presentations. We’ll announce added opportunities, including a dedicated presentation in French, at a later date.
Presentation No. 1 (in English): Wednesday, July 10, 10:30 a.m. – noon EDT
Presentation No. 2 (in English): Tuesday, July 16, 3 – 4:30 p.m. EDT
Note: we’ll be using Zoom Webinar which requires each attendee to register for a presentation individually. Registration links can’t be shared.
