It’s going to be PAC-ed on Parliament Hill!

In a matter of days, REALTORS® are going to be PAC-ing Parliament Hill.

More than 350 REALTOR® PAC reps will be in the nation’s capital for CREA’s annual Political Action Committee (PAC) Days on October 15 to 17. Whether you’re a political novice, a PAC veteran or just reading to find out what’s new in REALTOR® advocacy, here’s the rundown on what to expect out of the 32nd annual conference.

  1. Action PAC-ed panels: With two days of speakers, you’ll dig deep into the political backrooms hearing from key politicos and pundits in Ottawa. As well, former Canadian Ambassador, Gary Doer, and former presidential strategist and CNN commentator, David Gergen will both deliver keynote addresses.
  2. Jam-PAC-ed advocacy training: PAC reps will hear from experts on effective advocacy strategies and learn more about this year’s REALTOR® issues, including expanding the Home Buyer’s Plan (HBP) and putting the brakes on the extended mortgage stress test.
  3. PAC-ing the Hill: Meetings, meetings and more meetings. The most important part of PAC Days is meeting your Members of Parliament (MP). PAC reps meet with elected officials to advocate in the interested of homeownership and share insights into the national housing industry.

With all that on the agenda, make sure your suitcase is filled with these key essentials:

  • Business attire: For all your PAC Days sessions and, most importantly, your MP meetings.
  • Identification: Don’t get caught in the security line. Make sure you bring a valid government-issued photo identification to get your MP meeting.
  • Business cards: Following your successful MP meeting, make sure you leave behind a business card.
  • An umbrella and a scarf: The weather can get finicky this time of year, the leaves may be gorgeous, but the wind will probably still be casting a chill.
