Lifestyle is increasingly more important for today’s home buyer. Providing detailed information on schools, businesses, transit and daycares helps consumers make better, more informed decisions when it comes to selecting a neighbourhood.
A 2017 Pollfish survey found that 90% of prospective home buyers place great importance on location and nearby amenities when buying a home.
Currently, neighbourhood characteristics are retrieved from several sources, including Google Maps, REALTORS®, as well as friends and relatives. With all those potential sources of information, 80% of prospective home buyers feel overwhelmed when trying to compare properties with respect to location and nearby amenities.
The survey examined three different types of neighbourhood characteristics, including:
- filters based on location features, such as “pedestrian friendly”, “quiet”, “groceries”, or “transit friendly”;
- scores ranked on a scale from one to five for each location feature; and
- more detailed information on a location, such as nearby public transit routes.
This information was considered helpful by more than 90% of prospective home buyers. In addition, at least 80% of these buyers said they would be more likely to use a real estate website that includes lifestyle information.
We teamed up with @local_logic to include more neighbourhood details in all @REALTORdotca listings on desktop (mobile coming early June). Check it out: https://t.co/4V4i3NO9Zg. pic.twitter.com/q6kT2tzcOI
