A year in review: How REALTORS® rallied on behalf of Canadian homebuyers and sellers

2016 was a big year. Some might even say, surreal. All month, we’ll be sharing some of our own accomplishments and highlights from the past year. Have something to add? Feel free to share in the Comments section below.

From a record number of attendees at PAC Days to working with the government on a number of key files, there was no shortage of exciting projects for CREA Federal Affairs in 2016.

We’re proud to say our feedback was included in the government’s National Housing Strategy and that Members of Parliament (MPs) of all political stripes have mentioned or raised our recommendations in the House of Commons and with the Minister of Finance. Traffic to our industry’s online grassroots advocacy platform, the REALTOR® Action Network, was also up 32 percent in 2016 compared to the previous year (if you’re not already a member, we encourage you to join and add your voice in support of issues impacting REALTORS® and Canadian homebuyers and sellers across the country).

Below you will find an infographic that highlights some of these milestones.

Thanks to all Political Action Committee Representatives (PAC Reps) and boards and associations for their dedication and government relations efforts from the past year!

Our former Policy Advisor, Nicole Power, worked with boards and associations in support of our Federal Affairs initiatives, providing advocacy and research support and managing Political Action Committee (PAC) engagement. Nicole has spent time on and around Parliament Hill, previously working for the public service and a not-for-profit advocacy organization. In her spare time, Nicole can be found trying new fitness classes and exploring the latest and greatest dining spots in Ottawa.
