“Dear CREA Help Desk” is a recurring column dedicated to helping CREA members with common technical issues.
Sometimes, our Help Desk receives inquiries from REALTORS® about problems with the way their listings appear on REALTOR.ca. For example, “My listing is not located off the coast of Africa!”
Your property listings on REALTOR.ca are important to you, your clients, and, of course, consumers. We’d like to take this opportunity to provide some tips on ensuring your listing is in tip-top shape on the most visited property search site in the country – REALTOR.ca – and our REALTOR.ca apps.
Once your listing has been made available on your Board/Association’s MLS® System, make it a point to check how it looks on REALTOR.ca. Confirm that it’s appearing as the right property type, and most importantly that it is mapped accurately. Slight data entry errors can result in listings appearing on the exact opposite side of the planet. Some listings do regrettably end up appearing off of the southern coast of Africa by having default coordinates of 0,0.
Remember, in order for your listing to be found, it must be in the right location, its property type information must be correct, and its features, such as fireplace and garage, must be identified. Nothing frustrates sellers more than not being able to find their property on the website or finding their property with incorrect information.
If you see any mistakes on your listings on REALTOR.ca, please contact your Board/Association. All corrections will need to originate from your Board/Association’s MLS® System.
